MAR
CONTADO
BEL OUI x SEA SHEPHERD
MAR CONTADO is a collection of hand-painted azulejos by Bel Oui, created in collaboration with Sea Shepherd Portugal.
Rooted in the tradition of Portuguese tiles, the collection tells the stories of marine life that is too often reduced to numbers, overlooked, or left out of the conversation.
The collection begins with a limited series of 30 tiles, with more marine species to follow. Every piece is made individually, making each tile unique. 30% of every sale goes directly to Sea Shepherd Portugal, supporting their work to protect marine wildlife and defend our oceans.
In Portuguese, contado means both counted and told. Mar Contado exists somewhere between the two: a reminder that the sea is more than what we take from it, and that every life in it has a story worth telling.

OCTOPUS
Classic Octopus
Inspired by traditional Portuguese azulejos, each 15 × 15 cm tile features a hand-painted octopus in classic blue and white.
One tile represents 10 kg of octopus caught in Portuguese waters. Portugal landed 1,565 tonnes of octopus in 2025, making this a very local conservation story. Created as part of a project raising awareness about marine exploitation, the tile connects Portuguese artistic heritage with the reality of commercial fishing. A reminder of the life behind the numbers, and of the ocean we depend on.
Limited edition of 30 tiles.
Each one is individually hand-painted by Bel Oui in Portugal.

Only ONE exists. This unique, hand-painted azulejo features an octopus and an alcatruz, a traditional Portuguese clay pot used to catch octopus.
Representing 100 kg of octopus caught, this special edition connects Portuguese fishing heritage with the reality of marine exploitation.
